A presentation from our CEO
Dear Sir/Madam
My name is Finn. I am a Danish citizen with a degree in Computer Science from the University of Copenhagen.
I have more than 30 years of broad IT experience, 13 of these as the IT Manager for TNS Gallup, Denmark’s leading Market Research Company and 5 of these as the IT Manager for Alsted Research, Denmark’s then leading Qualitative Research Company (now part of Millward Brown).
I have relocated to Thailand, and I am therefore in a position where I can offer my experience to companies operating in Asia Pacific and elsewhere.
Although I have worked most of my active IT carrier with IT in the Market Research business, my IT experience can be used in any kind of business.
If your IT team can use some extra help on a regular basis from an IT professional with many years’ international experience, I would appreciate if you will consider me to be that person.
I can work for your company for as little as 2-3 days a month or every second month on a regular returning schedule if that is all what your company needs. I will then try to find other companies in your area with a similar need, maybe with your help, so travelling expenses can be shared out on at least 5, and preferable 10 working days at a time, to reduce travelling cost.
I can also help if the job require travelling to other cities and countries. With my Danish passport, I can enter many countries without having to get a visa in advance. I can book air tickets direct in the airlines booking systems myself, as I have previous training in and experience with airline booking systems.
To secure your company of my services, I am able to offer work on a long term contract.
Some of my accomplishments: During my 19 years with TNS Gallup, I was responsible for moving all the company’s IT assets to new bigger locations 3 times and the CATI department 4 times, and I am proud to say, that we were able to do this every time without having to close our daily CATI interviewing for a single day. I count these relocations as some of my major accomplishments because of the complexity of the IT involved.
During each of these moves I was responsible for designing and purchasing the new network hardware, phone systems and other necessary IT equipment. Besides from installing the physical network cables and plugs at the new location, I installed and configured all network components and servers personally, including the patch cables for the network and phone system.
Another major accomplishment was when TNS Gallup in Denmark won a large EU contract to educate the World’s largest single Market Research Company in the former Soviet Union to Western Standard. I was a key part on the team from TNS Gallup and was responsible for, in corporation with their IT Manager, who did not speak a word of English, to design, procure, and supply them with completely new Market Research software from Pulse Train Technology (now part of Confirmit) as well as new computers and network. I was also responsible for the training of their IT professionals. This training took place in Denmark and England. This EU contract, when completed, received a very positive review from the EU.
My working history: I started as a part time FORTRAN and assembler system developer on PDP 11 minicomputers at Gallup Denmark, later AGB Gallup and then TNS Gallup, in the summer of 1984 while still following my Computer Science studies at the University of Copenhagen.
At that time I had already been running my own IT company for a couple of years, importing pc components from the US and UK, assembling them, and selling them to different companies, among these Nielsen in Denmark.
Only a month after I started at Gallup, the IT Director left the company, and I had to take on his responsibilities until an IT Manager was hired. When the new IT Manager left the company in 1986, I started full time at Gallup, and from then onwards I was both the IT Manager and System Developer. During these next 14 years the IT management took a bigger and bigger share of my time and the system development part was reduced to almost nothing. I continued in this role until 2000, when I had to find my own replacement, because I wanted to relocate to Thailand with my Thai wife.
I worked for three more years as an IT Consult for TNS Gallup in Denmark, but did also some work for TNS Gallup Norway. During these 3 years, I spent about every second month in Denmark and every second month in Thailand. In Denmark, I was support for the new IT Manager, as well as System Manager on TNS Gallup’s OpenVMS Alpha Servers, which ran almost all IT production as well as the large Bellview CATI system. I also still developed tools for this platform, as well as a new PC based CAPI administration system integrated with TNS NIPO’s CAPI software. When in Thailand I was available for phone support and developed the CAPI administration system further.
When I returned to Denmark in 2004, it was financial crises, and TNS Gallup was not hiring, so I were hired as IT Manager by Denmark’s Qualitative Research specialist Alsted Research and stayed on as such until Alsted Research was acquired by and integrated into Millward Brown Denmark in February 2009. http://www.brandrepublic.com/news/886677/Denmarks-Millward-Brown-buys-qualitative-agency-Alsted
The same month my wife had our twins and I spent the next 2 years taking care of them while she completed her chef studies.
From then onwards I have run my own IT consulting firm in Sweden.
I believe I can be a valuable addition to your company.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
With Best Regards
Finn
